Great distro, marvellous work! I have an eeePC 1000H and am having problems with the touchpad. Is there anyway to disable ‘tap-to-click’? I’m new to Linux and it’s infuriating constantly clicking when I don’t mean to!

According to that statement it should come today? Can anyone confirm that? I’d love to use this weekend to install it on my, my daughters (2 of them) and
my friends – we all got 900’s.

Having four installs to do, it is nice that it comes on a Friday! I refer to my earlier post and do not want to rush anything – I’d just like to know.

Adam tested this new kernel to be in the order of 20-23 scs (using a 900 I guess). Let’s wait and see …

Javier, Edward, Michael, I got a lot of work yesterday. The last problem is getting applications into the Netbook Remix favorites menu through terminal. If someone knows how, please share :) When that’s done, I’ll make an iso for myself – see if it’s working. If I’m happy about it, I’ll make a RC. If there’s no complains the first 24 hours, the same iso goes gold! So Ubuntu Eee 8.04.1 is released in about 72 hours. I’m sorry about the late replies, but the time I’ve used by the computer have only been making-Ubuntu Eee-time.

I was hoping that an Ubuntu distro that was specific to the eee would actually have wireless working “out of the box”

Imagine my frustration when the OS could not only not find the wireless card, but it can’t find the ethernet card either.

An eee specific distro should have networking running ‘out of the box’

But there are the other issue that you all know about. 8.04 is working well enough for me to cobble along with, but I really look forward to right and proper support for this amazing little computer.

How’s the boot time on the atom?

Tommer, you don’t Have to install Ubuntu Eee on a memory card. You can install it on the internal drive and have the SD slot free :)

As Adam again has amazed us not only with a great kernel but also a great development speed, Ubuntu Eee 8.04.1 is ready to be thrown together. Give me a couple of days and it’s out :)

Point being that that is actually one of the benefits with open source. They do not release till they’re good and ready and then they can stand for the product.

So we really do not need a RC with known bugs. I agree 100% (if anyone should care) with the policy of waiting with the release till it’s ready and working.

I am really looking forward to the new ubuntu eee, already installed ubuntu on my desktop, and waiting for a stable ubuntu eee for my asus eee pc 701 without using the scripts that screw up my eee pc:-) Thanks for the good work!!!

but it’s too bad if we have to do a fresh install on our perfect set up ;-)
