Ubuntu Eee 8.10 release date

Get ready for the Netbook OS of 2009:

Ubuntu Eee 8.10 will be released 01.01.09 01:01 PM (CET)

Gartner’s estimate is that there will be sold 15.6 million netbooks in 2009, meaning 2009 really will be the year of the netbooks – and we’ll work together to delivering the best OS for these people on the go.

As many know, won’t the name be Ubuntu Eee because of trademark issues. People are involving themselfs in forming Ubuntu Eee 8.10 over at the forums, why not head over and include yourself? :)

Ubuntu Eee 8.10 will not only be for Asus Eee’s, but for all netbooks out there on the 1st of January.

Hi, is Ubuntu Eee working with Netvibes? Because their ‘jolicloud’ OS looks very similar…

Now that OneLinux is defunct, why not get permission to take over that project name. Onelinux was about the Acer Aspire One, however, you could rebrand it as the One Linux you would need for whatever netbook you have.

MUD, good question.. It isn’t decided, but as I’m pretty sure we won’t hold back on the quality to support the 2G version as it’s a model from 2007. You can install Ubuntu Eee on a SD card – it’s cheap and easy

Well it still be small enough to fit on the Asus Eee PC 2GIG 701?
